Yes…

I know…

Three months…

But I didn’t plan on…

I was thinking of a way of adding more original content to my blog. In the recent year or so, I’ve done more meme and quizzes then a Facebook wannabe application. One of the thoughts that came to me was to do a “Things That Make Me …” thing where I can change the ending of that phrase. This is kinda based on what Amanda was doing with her “X things about me” posts. I’m currently debating if I should add commentary to this, kinda like explaining the “X things.” I may just post the things one day and commentary on them a few days later…to force me to update lol.
———————————————————————

Usually, the subway is filled with all sorts of people, from CEOs to the homeless. Its never a day on the subway without the daily choir of subway singers trying to survive on their so called talent, which is fine with me…mainly due to my iPhone’s music ability.

But, by chance its not the daily choir, its the break dancing kids that fill the subway before and after school hours. They can easily cash in on a huge day and its a win-win situation for them. They make money and they have fun. And they look pretty awesome doing what they do.

But the subways is always filled with the nutcases, the oddjobs, those that do the unbelievable. Its kinda brings you back to the comments made by John Rocker, former closer of the Atlanta Braves,

“It’s the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark, looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing.”

Alright, so he was a jackass based on that quote, but he kinda has a point, anything can happen on the subway!

This bring me to what happened to me today. I had just gotten off from work and realized that I had a 3 day holiday coming up (due to the luck of HR schd). Needless to say, I was in a state of happiness. The N train had just pulled into the station as I arrived at the platform. “Just my luck,” I assumed.

Just as I had taken a seat, I noticed the surrounding area was empty…during rush hour. The reason being, most tourists tend to fear the homeless and such a person had taken a seat across the train from me. Now, I don’t mind the homeless, as the trains tend to provide heat and shelter for them. I mean, they are human, no? If they paid for the subway ride, so be it, they can have a seat! But this guy had to be different. He had to ruin my day. As I sat there, I noticed many people in the train had this look of disgust on their face. As I turned my head, I noticed the source of disgust. The homeless guy was pleasuring himself! On the subway! In public! Can you believe that?!

Needless to say, at the next stop, I disembarked and took the next train. “Just my luck,” I assume. A great start to my mini holiday. Now, am curious, has anyone else dealt or experienced any oddjobs or unthinkable acts on the subway? Hit up the comments and let me know.

And how about a woot for an actual non-filler blog entry! Thank goodness for my iPhone!

Here’s a little thing for the new year.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?
I was the best man at a wedding!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make any resolutions just because I didn’t want to face the disappointment of not reaching it.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! My cousin in India gave birth to a beautiful baby boy!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No one that jumps out of memory.

5. What countries did you visit?
Visit…countries? What’s that? Unfortunately, I have quite a boring life as I’ve only been to two different states (yes, I said STATES!) in 2007…care to guess which ones?

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A life? Seriously, that last question really put a big bummer sticker on the past year.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 18th (Commencement), June 22 (The day I moved into my new house!), July 28th (The day I gave my best man speech), July 31st (The day I started working for the big A!).

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a job (Even tho it’s not as well paying as I hoped and it nothing related to my degree), Ending my undergraduate career.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Working for the big A. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the company and the place I work, but I really didn’t see myself working there at all. It was kinda my last resort thing. However, I am grateful to have a job!

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Oh did I! FUCK YES! Hopefully you remember the adventure of Valentine’s Day? I know Zach does! (Or he better!!). If you don’t, hit up the archives and give me page views! (note: I never posted about the illness/injury…haha, oops!)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bet you all thought I’d say my iPhone, but actually, it’s the 1Gb of RAM I bought for my G4 ibook…that thing has saved me at least $1300!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Yea, I have no idea.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Same as 12.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Transportation mostly, cab fares and train passes cost a shit load. Food has to be the next big thing and then just improvements on the house.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
iPhone keynote and launch, Leopard launch, commencement, and the three weddings I went to.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Colbie Caillat – Bubbly [iTunes], Linkin Park – What I’ve Done [iTunes

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
Happier, thinner, richer

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Relaxed and took some time off. As I recall, I went from Binghamton in May to Rutgers for a month in June, Moving/Setting up the house in June and July, Weddings in June, July, August, and then started working in August. No free time myself. :-(

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Work and worry. I wish I had some more vacation time to actually go on vacation!

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Working! The Big A had me working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day! Hot damn!

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Nope.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Smallville, of course! House and Bones made me happy as well. Pushing Daisies is growing on me and last, but not least, LOST! Heroes was up there and then, what happened guys, what happened?

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Yea, not going there.

24. What was the best book you read?
Hm. I’m halfway into the latest novel in the Dexter series and I’m enjoying that. No time for reading (see above!)

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Colbie Caillat I suppose, I mean, I ended up buying her latest album, so yea.

26. What did you want and get?
A job! w00t!

27. What did you want and not get?
More time

28. What was your favorite film this year?
Coming soon, as I’ll do what I did last year and put up my top movies of 2007! (and my iPhone part 3 too! lol)

29. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
My family threw me a surprise birthday bash inviting folk I haven’t seen in a while. I turned 22.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having fun in the summer.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Casual

32. What kept you sane?
The Show! I spent way to many hours on that thing!

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Maggie Lawson is really cute on Psych and well,

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
Stem Cell Research and Steroid Use in Pro Sports.

35. Who did you miss?
No one in particular.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Many of the people at Fifth Ave.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
You have to have confidence in yourself before you can accomplish any task and realizing that that confidence doesn’t necessarily have to be present when you start to complete a task…your confidence and the completion of the task can increase together.
