Spring has arrived! Okay, maybe not, but alas the spring semester has indeed arrived! I going to be real busy this term. I have much to do.
Classes:
-Anth 244 – Plagues, Culture and History
-Bio 372 – Something, I forget. Deals with Fossils
-Eng 380N – Crime Fiction
-Mus 180F – Music in Cinema
TA:
-Eng 205 – Folklore
Media Projects:
-RBJ Podcast
-Live “magic” show for Seneca (More on this later)
-Untitled “magic” video project aka “Magic/Mirror 2″
As you can see, my hands are full. However, you know me, I’m most likely gonna do something and add something to the list above. Actually, I do have an idea, which I want to pitch to the admission office. I’ll talk about that some other time. I think I have made enough ideas to write a “My Top 10 of fail ideas.” Look for it.
Classes have been great. I dropped genetics. I wasn’t planning to, but forces decided it was best if I did. Instead, I picked up Crime Fiction. Here are the reasons (that I told myself in order to justify the change):
-The Prof teaching the class was new. I’ll never heard of her and RMP and mybing had no information about her.
-The book list for Crime Fiction was amazing.
-Zach is in Crime Fiction
Okay, fine…it’s not the best reasons in the world, but what’s done is done! Enough about this.
I mentioned a magic show and untitled video project with Zach. During the winter break, Zach and I were talking about magic mirror. We realized that even those it was a decent piece, it could have been MUCH better. So, we decided to do something, so M/M would have a purpose. I did have a purpose, but…we want it to have a great purpose!
Anyways, back to the story. Before I came up for the idea for magic mirror, Zach has told Dawn (our former RA) that he would do a magic show for a RA program. I ended up taping the thing. However, it turned out that the RD of Secena loved the show. During the break, zach and I started coming up with a new routine. Dawn spoke to Zach the other day and it seems that the RD is doing a two day program for Seneca and would like Zach to perform again. This was great news! We could try out the new routine.
Zach recently blog entry deals with a “List of Thing We Know After Magic Mirror.” Here’s the intro. I’ll be adding to the list, here on my blog, in a few days.
“When Tarantino was asked about his first movie (not Reservoir Dogs, you QT newbies), My Best Friend’s Birthday, he replied that it shouldn’t be seen by anyone. Even he, a master of cinematics, acknowledges that your first time out is always your first time out, and that it is a necessary evil. You have to learn from that experience before you can go on to make anything truly worthwhile. You figure out what works and what doesnt, you find your own way of expressing certain things with particular elements that work well for YOU, and you also experience the strange fact that the camera is not a replacement for a human eye. It never blinks, it is unforgiving, and it captures everything. So you have to cater to that. To that wit, I present to you my list of Things We Know After Magic/Mirror:”
It’s a good read.
That’s it for now. Peace.
